Shutter therapy opportunities were somewhat limited during 2025. My camera sat on the shelf for months while I was preoccupied with our big move (see previous blog posts Goodbye Lake Oconee Georgia! and Hello Sunrise Trail Nova Scotia!). The exception was a much-needed, three-month breather between August and October while we searched for a new home. It was the perfect time to get reacquainted with the rugged, ocean-centric beauty of Nova Scotia. Predictably, most of my favorite photos were taken during that period.
Greetings Family, Friends and Followers,
The holidays provide an ideal opportunity to delve into some creative fun. Whether one’s objective is to make one-of-a-kind gifts or to craft handmade decorations, it all starts with an idea ― a spark of imagination. One way to get the creative juices flowing is to purposely scout for inspiration. By which I mean, explore a variety of sources, both online and in real life, to observe possibilities and seek out fresh ideas.
Visitors to this year’s Nova Scotia Art and Craft Sale were met with the greeting “Welcome to where Happiness is Handmade”. It was the perfect introduction to the showcase of handmade goodness that was to follow.
Moving house, as the British put it, can be physically and mentally exhausting. But when you’ve done it as many times as my husband and I have, you learn a few tricks along the way. We’re past the stage where we can pack and move heavy boxes and furniture ourselves so we hired professionals for our recent move. But preparing for the moving company, as well as, all the unpacking is still on us.
As our time in Downtown Halifax draws to a close, I’d like to share one of my favorite spots in the city. It’s an enormous, interactive kinetic sculpture called Tidal Beacon. Located on Queen’s Marque, the stunning 60-foot-high, stainless-steel tower is impossible to miss!
